Seismic and Thermal Retrofitting of Masonry Buildings with Fiber Reinforced Composite Systems: A State of the Art Review

چکیده
Old masonry buildings represent the largest part of traditional constructions. Generally, they are both seismically vulnerable and thermally dispersive. Therefore, need for seismic thermal retrofitting aimed at reducing their vulnerability environmental impact has motivated research efforts towards sustainable solutions. This study presents a literature review approaches currently available retrofitting. Specifically, it highlights use fiber in textile form i.e., Textile Reinforcement Mortar (TRM), as Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) natural fibers (animal plant sources) to In addition, specific attention is devoted integrated (structural thermal) fiber-based techniques that becoming very important last years.

Retrofitting of Reinforced Concrete Beams with Steel Fiber Reinforced Composite Jackets
In the present study, a new method for retrofitting reinforced concrete beam is introduced in which steel-concrete composite jackets containing steel fiber is used. For this purpose, 75% of the peripheral surface of reinforced concrete beams was initially reinforced using steel plates and bolts, and steel fiber reinforced concrete was used between the steel plates and the peripheral surfaces of...
متن کاملInfluence of initial spatial layout on seismic behavior of masonry buildings with curved roof systems
Early design decisions made on building configuration and spatial design affect seismic behavior of buildings. Therefore introducing design guidelines and empirical methods implemented to assess seismic behavior of buildings have been proposed as an appropriate approach. Such concept helps architects to take into the consideration that how their preliminary design decisions influence downstream...
متن کاملInvestigating Efficiency of Shotcrete for Retrofitting Masonry Buildings
One of a feasible and efficient method to retrofit structures is spraying shotcrete which is widely applied around the world. Shotcrete is concrete with fine aggregates which are sprayed through a hose and by air pressure coat at high velocity onto a surface. In the current research, three masonry schools from different regions of Iran are selected. The retrofitted wall surfaces have been prepa...
متن کاملUncertainty in Seismic Capacity of Masonry Buildings
Seismic assessment of masonry structures is plagued by both inherent randomness and model uncertainty. The former is referred to as aleatory uncertainty, the latter as epistemic uncertainty because it depends on the knowledge level. Pioneering studies on reinforced concrete buildings have revealed a significant influence of modeling parameters on seismic vulnerability. However, confidence in me...
